Connectability

Connectability is a standard protocol that is supported within a SharePoint environment. CorasWorks navigation and roll-up components can utilize the connectability interface so CorasWorks web parts can “talk” to one another and one web part can receive information from another web part. This information can be used to alter the data displayed within the current web part.

Using web part connections, it is possible to download site URLs from a Workplace View Advanced to the CorasWorks Client web part, enabling your users to navigate their SharePoint sites using the CorasWorks Client program. Activation of any connection can only be established if the page is in Design Mode. From the web part drop-down menu, under Connections, the user can specify the type of connection they would like and the web part they would like to connect to.

After establishing a connection from a the Workplace View Advanced web part to the CorasWorks Client web part, the Sites menu of the Client program will display the same SharePoint sites that the Workplace View Advanced displays. You must refresh the Client program to update it with any configuration changes you make to either the Client web part or the connected Workplace View Advanced.

Although you can connect other List Provider web parts to the Client, the only supported connection is from the Workplace View Advanced web part.

NOTE: In order for the CorasWorks Client program to display sites, the connected Workplace View Advanced must have its Site URL property pointing to a top level SharePoint site.
