Overview

The CorasWorks Client™ is a program that runs in the Windows System Tray, where your computer displays the time.  The CorasWorks Client web part is used to install and configure the program on users’ computers. Using the Client, users can quickly navigate to SharePoint sites and download SharePoint contacts, events, and tasks to their Outlook folders.

When a user visits a page containing the CorasWorks Client web part, the CorasWorks Client program automatically installs itself on their system. Once installed, the CorasWorks Client program starts automatically whenever a user visits a site with Outlook web parts.  To update the client with any configuration changes, users may occasionally need to click on the client icon in their system tray, click CorasWorks Client, and then Refresh. Please refer to the Desktop Integration chapter in the Capabilities Guide to learn more about the CorasWorks Client.

To allow users to navigate to their SharePoint sites from within the CorasWorks Client, you can connect a Workplace View Advanced to the Client web part.  This is included in the My Workplace for Outlook site template, so all you need to do is point the URL property of the Workplace View Advanced to a top-level site.

In addition, the My Workplace for Outlook site template contains Contacts Summary, Events Summary, and Task Summary roll-ups on the Configuration tab.  The Configuration tab views explain how to configure these roll-ups by copying and pasting the appropriate URLs from the roll-ups into the Client properties.  Once done, you can initiate downloads of your SharePoint contacts, events, and tasks directly from the Client.
