The Migration tab represents the last step in the Design Migrator process. When you click the Migrate button in the lower right corner of this tab, the Design Migrator will go through each page you selected for migration, apply the selected template page, and determine how to build each migrated page. The status of each page, including master pages, is displayed in the Status area and along the bottom bar of the interface.
NOTE 1: If another user happens to access a site while it is being migrated, no harm will be done. If they refresh the page when the migration is complete, they will see the new design and/or web parts.
NOTE 2: It is important to understand how the Design Migrator manages web part zone IDs in both the source pages and the template pages. For more information, please see the Web Part Zone IDs topic.
The amount of time it takes to migrate a site depends on a number of factors, as discussed in the Performance Considerations topic. Backup files of each migrated page are created automatically so they can be reverted later, if necessary. If you wish, these files can be deleted once you have verified the migration and are completely satisfied with the results. If you need to repeat a migration, it cannot be executed until the backup files are deleted.
When the process is complete, a message will pop up, stating “Migration Complete.” Click OK to clear the message.
NOTE: Please do not click the Migrate button again.
