On the Scan tab, the Design Migrator scans through all of the pages in the identified site(s) and lists them in the Change Default Options area. The columns in this area are defined below, or you can hover your mouse over any of the column labels for a pop-up definition.
Below this area is the Zone Report, which compares the web part zones on your template page(s) to the zones on the page(s) to be migrated
The complete URL of the source page that will be migrated to the new SharePoint 2007 design.
The page to use as a template for the new design. All of the pages available from the Template Page URL you specified on the first tab are listed in a drop-down. Highlight the page you want to use.
Whether or not the destination page is to be included in the migration. This is selected by default, but can be de-selected to exclude that page. You can also double-click on the column heading to remove all of the selection checkmarks. Double-click again to re-select.
When the Design Migrator executes, it will map the web parts from the upgraded SharePoint 2003 site(s) into web part zones from the template 2007 site(s) that share the same zone ID.
• If this checkbox is selected and the web part zone IDs do not match, any web parts in the non-matching zones will not be included in the new 2007 page. This is the default treatment.
o For more information about how the Design Migrator manages web part zone IDs, please see the Web Part Zone IDs topic.
• If this checkbox is empty, any web parts in zones that do not match the zone ID from the template page will be left in the Bottom zone on the migrated site.
You can double-click on the column heading to remove all of the selection checkmarks. Double-click again to re-select.
The Zone Report is automatically generated when the Scan tab is accessed and the Change Default Options area is populated. It states the default source page to be used as the site template, with the names of the web part zones on that page. Then it lists each of the pages selected for migration, with the web part zones on those pages. Any web part zones that do not match are listed below the URL of the page to be migrated. The action taken on the web parts in those zones is determined by the setting in the Exclude Orphaned Web Parts property, discussed above.
Any pages with web part zone issues are listed first, followed by the pages on which there are no issues. The items in the Zone Report are sorted by URL.
• If the web part zone IDs do not match, a message states “Web parts in these zones are orphaned, these zones will not be migrated.” The message is followed by a list of web part zones on the page being migrated that do not exist on the template page.
• If the Exclude Orphaned Web Parts checkbox is turned off for a particular page, the Zone Report states “Removal of orphaned web parts turned off for this page.”
The area above the Zone Report offers three icons:
• - Refresh the report after
making changes in Change Default Options area.
• - Save the report to a
location you identify.
• - Send the report to a
printer.
NOTE: If you use the Design Migrator to migrate an existing CorasWorks solution, the Zone Report generated by the Design Migrator will include statements that there will be orphaned web parts in these web part zones:
• Menu Navigation
• Tab Navigation
• Up To Navigation
• View Navigation
• Workplace Navigation
This is to be expected because in the Winter 2007 solution set, all of the navigation is typically placed on master pages; the navigation web parts from the pages to be migrated will and should be ignored, and replaced with the navigation on the template’s master pages.
