While CorasWorks recommends that you run the Design Migrator against all of your upgraded sites so that you can take advantage of all of the new 2007 functionality, there are times when you may want or need to return a site or individual page back to its original format and content. The site or page may not have migrated as you expected, the web parts may not be located where you want them to be, or you may want to change any number of other options.
Fortunately, the Design Migrator offers the option to revert any sites or pages back to their previous state, as long as you have not deleted the associated backup files. When you revert a selected site or page, all of the formatting and web parts will be returned as they were before the Design Migrator was executed. And, you can select the individual sites and pages you want to work with; you do not have to revert everything just because a single page did not turn out as expected.
One key reason you may want to revert a site or page is the way that web parts and web part zones are handled. For more information, please see the Web Part Zone IDs help topic.
When you are ready to revert sites or pages:
1. Access the Backup Files tab.
2. Place a check mark to the left of each site or page you want to revert. You can expand or contract each site listed so you can select the specific pages you want to revert.
3. When you are ready to proceed, click the Revert button at the bottom of the window. A confirmation message is displayed, asking “Are you sure you wish to revert these backup files?”
4. Click Yes to continue. The progress is shown in the Status area as shown below.
• The revert includes removing any web parts, resource files, and/or master pages that were copied from the template page to the destination page.
5. When complete, a message is displayed, stating “The backup files have been successfully reverted.”
6. Click OK to clear the message.
NOTE: If you want to re-migrate a site or page once it has been reverted, you will need to delete the backup file as described in the next section. If you attempt to re-migrate without deleting the backup file, an error message will be displayed and you will not be allowed to proceed.
